about

After being a stay-at-home mom for 7 plus years now, I frequently find myself at the end of the day with thousands of words unsaid–leftover ideas, conversations, opinions, questions and thoughts.

This blog gives voice to my leftovers.  Because I’m a Christian, a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, etc. the subject matter will naturally reflect this.  However, I wouldn’t call this a “mom” blog.  Nor is it a “teaching” blog or a “crafty” blog or a “theological” blog or a “humor” blog.

It’s all of those things.  Just like every other Christian mom out there, I am a mix of much.  So I’ll do a preemptive apology for the range of this blog.  It isn’t overly focused.  The only consistent theme is Christ who is over all and in all and through all.

Here’s a peek at what I’m passionate about: loving and serving the body of Christ well, being a wife and mother to the glory of God, defending the unborn, the advance of the Gospel, knitting and crocheting, history, politics in general, being a really good friend, reading (love Jane Austen) and writing, coffee (medium roast), singing, guitar-playing, worship, LOTR trilogy (esp The Two Towers).  *Items are not of equal-value or listed in order of importance.

Blogging is beneficial for me.  It’s not just a writing exercise or journal.  It is more like a (fun) spiritual discipline that focuses my thoughts into coherency, gives my heart a reminder of the big picture, and it preaches to my wayward soul.

It also can be good for a laugh.

If reading it can do even one of those things for you, I’ll call it a success.

  1. Hi Abigail,

Tom passed on, recommended your blog to me a few weeks ago and I’ve been wanting to check it out for awhile.

It is no surpise that Tom has been graced with you in his life, he mentions you frequently and always with such gratitude. May you both continue to be blessed.

I am at work so can’t spend too much time here initially reviewing your postings, etc. However, I did notice that you mentioned Jane Austin. I have to tell you that probably my favorite movie, definitely the best adaptation, would be the BBC production of Persuasion. Have you seen this? It is not the latest incarnation but the most beautiful, subtle and joyous movie I can remember seen.

Below is the link (if it works) from Amazon. This was dated 1995 and stars Ciaran Hinds & Amanda Root.

Also, I guess my connection to you may be through my recommendation (to Tom) of Jay Nordlinger’s “Impromptus” on NRO. I never miss one and was glad to hear you found some enjoyment in them.

    All the best.

    Hey Abigail!

It’s been too long :) You always been a favorite cousin of mine, what a treat to read more about you and things that you are passionate about. Your family is beautiful and you are inspiring in your dedication to God and your kids. I can only pray that I’ll be just like you when I’m a mom. Thanks for your thoughts and best wishes!

    Ab-
You forgot to add “niece” to your list of roles you fill in life. That’s a very important one. ….because you’re MY niece. :-)

    Abigail,
Great blog! Just talked with your dad (my doctor) and he mentioned you have a top 10 list of things NOT to say to a pregnant woman – this would be excellent fodor for my 15 year old son who does not seem to be gifted with prudence quite yet… can you help me find it?
    Thanks!

  6. Hi Jennifer,

I’m guessing this is the post he’s talking about..

I hope your pregnancy is going well! And that your 15-yr-old acquires the gift of prudence in short order! ;)

    Blessings to you,
    Abigail
