a pox on your house

A pox on our house, really.

Eliza has the chicken pox.  And yes, she had the vaccines, which is making this a very mild case (as opposed to the sometimes life-threatening cases that children used to be faced with).

So I’m thankful for the vaccine and hoping the other kids avoid it altogether.

I thought about posting pictures of the pox, but thought that might be kind of weird and child-abusive-ish.  So, I’m opting for some happy non-pox pics instead.

SDC10178In their pj’s, watching the duck family swim around the pond one morning (I use the term “morning” loosely).

SDC10199Seth and Elianna doing the afternoon snack thing.

SDC10201Elianna’s attempt at giving her brother a smooch..

SDC10215Dodds’ kiddie couch snuggle.

SDC10216Snuggle’s done, time for  some goofy fun.

SDC10222Sisters with shut-eyes and smiles.

SDC10259And a second attempt to smooch Seth, this time successful, by Eliza.

So, unlike the Shakespearean curse, “a pox on your house,” (and unlike my title) I hope there is no chicken pox at your house.

  1. So sorry that she is sick and hope that the chicken pox will be behind you soon.

Our Melissa had just a mild case when she was in preschool, also. Then when she was in middle school, Malachi and Cherith got them (preschool age also), and Melissa got a worse case then since she was exposed to it, which finally gave her lifetime immunity (it’s supposed to anyway). It wasn’t easy having it in middle school, but still better than as an adult.

Maybe Eliza will be revaccinated to prevent another occurrence since it is a mild case? You may want to keep an eye out for this if she is exposed again.

Our younger two had substantial cases and will probably not get it again. When Malachi got it, I thought, well, maybe Cherith will get hers at the same time and it will be all over at once.

However I was so grateful when hers did not start until a week after Malachi’s ended. I REALLY needed a break in between. (Melissa stayed at her mom’s while she was sick since it started when she got home, so I did not have all three at once.)

I’m thankful that they got through it without complications. Some people I know purposefully expose their kids to it when their friends’ kids get it so they will get it when they are young and not older when it is more serious. However, I just did not want to go that far. It just happened when it happened.

Will be praying all goes well for you, too.

  2. I love that first picture of the kids. It looks like it’s straight from a magazine.
